Weeknight Tennis Competition
If you love a challenging game of tennis and pitting your skills against other players, sign up for our in-house tennis competitions. Held at the Prince Alfred Park Tennis Courts in Surry Hills and other City Community Tennis locations. Held on weeknights for different playing levels throughout the year. Format is singles and doubles play. Improve your game and meet new people while you enjoy fast-paced, competitive match play.

Please complete the details below so we can best place you or your team in the right division. Please note you may be directed to book a grading session (private lesson, group class or one of our monthly grading sessions) before we can enter you in Weeknight Competition. If you are graded beginner or Low Intermediate you won't be able to play Weeknight Competition as the minimum player level is Intermediate unless otherwise stated

Entry fee
All competition players must be current City Community Tennis Advantage Members. Yearly membership fee $60.
- Standard fee $310 (includes Membership fee)
- Advantage members $250 per player
Weeknights
- Monday 8-10pm (High Intermediate to Advanced)
- Tuesday 8-10pm (Advanced 2+)
- Wednesday 8-10pm (Intermediate to High Intermediate)
Rounds
- If we have 8 teams there will be nine rounds in total. This will include the semis and finals. Teams that don't make the semis or final will still play
Teams
- Co-Ed (male vs. female) play is allowed
- Each team consists of two players with the same player rating. If you do not have a player rating from City Community Tennis or the UTR platform you will need to book a private lesson or group class for a coach to assess your player level.
- Each team is encourage to have a third player as a reserve in the event a team member can't play on the evening
- Each team member will need to have a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) player profile. Player scores will be added to the UTR platform
Format Singles - Evening of Play
- Round Robin
- Each team member plays 1 set of singles
- Best of one set. First to six games, tie break at 5 games all
Format Doubles
- Round Robin
- Team plays two sets of doubles on the evening
- Format same as singles

Gradings
if you don't already have a player rating at City Community Tennis you will need to be graded by one of our experienced staff before you can compete in any of our Competitions. Please note grading sessions are not suitable for beginners.
There are several ways to be graded:
- Book into one of our monthly Grading Sessions
- Book a Private Lesson
- Book into a Group Class
- Contact the competitions team if you already have a verified UTR Rating or have considerable competitive experience
Q1: How do I get involved?
A: Select the 'Play Weeknight Comp' tab and fill out the form. If you don't have a City Community Tennis 'player level' or current 'UTR' you will need a grading by one of our coaches who will assess your player level.
Players are can be graded in the following ways:
- book a private lesson
- book a group class
- book social tennis
- book a grading session
Q2: Do I have to wait for a new competition to commence playing?
A: You may be able to join our wait list as a reserve. If a a player in our current series cannot make a round of the competition, we will ask players from the reserve list to fill in for the night. The cost to reserve is $10 per match. This is also a good way to play competition tennis if you have a really busy schedule and cannot commit to a whole competition. You may also wish to consider playing Sunday Morning comp, Singles Club Ladder or Social Tennis. Click on the side menu bar for website information on these events.
